Goals & Course Objectives

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:


  1. define informed decision making in your own words in the context of peanut ball use in labor and birth.
  2. list the 3 Ps of proper peanut ball sizing and explain in your own words the steps of determining how to safely size a peanut ball with a client in labor.
  3. assess how inappropriate sizing impacts birth physiology and patient comfort.
  4. choose effective peanut ball positions to offer clients in early, active, and pushing stages that are appropriate for suspected fetal station and aligned with their goals.

Nursing Contact Hours

Amanda Irby is a continuing education provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider # CEP17690, for 3 contact hours. 

Nursing contact hours can be applied to most childbirth educator and doula certifications as well as the Certified Professional Midwife credential (please verify with your certifying body
